PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The new Reebok 18K leg pads close faster, offer more coverage, and provide the solid seal needed to win.  The 18K features many new and innovative upgrades over the previous model, as well as a softer flex that will appeal to both blocking and hybrid style goaltenders.

The 18K is a flat faced pad with a solid outer knee roll, and the stock version comes with a nice, pre-formed "S" shape.  Internally, the pad features foam breaks both above and below the knee, which help give the pad more flex than you would anticipate in a pad with a solid outer roll.  Additionally, the internal pad foam mold has a softer "FLEXCORE" boot break built in, which is great for goalies who want more flex in the ankle.

The knee lock has been modified in the 18K to include Reebok's new "MAXCOVERAGE" design.  On the inside of the knee, this design features a wider, thicker knee raiser which provides a more stable landing platform while going into the butterfly, as well as an additional blocking surface when going into your knees together/ankles together "Giggy-fly" when blocking five hole shots.  On the outside of the knee, the outermost knee cradle flap has been significantly shortened, and a new, additional knee lock strap postion at the top of the outside calf flap can create an extremely wide, extremely loose fitting knee setup.  By opening up the knee, the pad is allowed to slide towards the inside of the goalies leg, which presents a smaller five hole to the shooter.  Goalies who like a traditional set up can also attach the knee lock strap to the outer knee lock flap, which holds the knee more tightly to the pad.

On the inside edge of the pad, the calf position has been moved forward and includes a 1/2" HD foam "SOLIDSEAL"  pad to provide a more stable butterfly platform, as well as an additional blocking surface on the ice.  At the knee, the traditional straps that run outside and over the top of the knee raisers have now been run through channels in the knee raiser itself.  By moving the strap position, the straps are kept from pulling the thigh rise up off of the ice when going into the butterfly.  Combined with the SOLIDSEAL calf wrap, both of these features give the pad a complete seal to the ice in the butterfly.

  • Quick Release: open knee cradle allows the pad to drop to the inside of your leg to close the 5-hole for more coverage
  • MAXCOVERAGE:  A knee raised inside knee raiser with straps running through the injection molded foam for maximum 5-hole coverage and stability
  • SOLIDSEAL:  Forward position calf wrap keeps the inside edge flat and flush to the ice giving a solid seal in the butterfly position
  • FLEXCORE:  A new softer boot flex option for goalies wanting more flex at the ankle.

SIZE CHART

Reebok utilizes a "Floor to Knee" fit guide to determine the proper leg pad size to meet your needs.  To determine your "Floor to Knee" measurement, measure the distance from the floor (in bare feet) to the middle of the knee cap, straight up, knees slightly bent.  Find this measurement in the chart below, then look at the number above it to find your pad size.

If fitted properly, the goalie's knee should rest in the center of the knee cradle with the pad securely attached to the goal skate and properly strapped on the goaltender's leg. Generally, this will ensure that the pad breaks (bends) at the knee/shin and ankle as designed for optimal performance.

RATINGS & REVIEWS

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pad for the Value After coming form Vaughn and Brians pads in the past I was skeptical of the Reebok offering. After researching the P4 and the 18k differences I believe choosing the 18k has been a good choice. The landing block has held up quite well. the adjustable straps at the knee is a great feature too. These pads throw the rebounds out and away as designed. Knee slides are smooth and the pad rotates as expected. Because the pad has two internal breaks this isn't a wide butterfly only pad. I got these in 33+2 and the seal up the five hole quite nicely. The boot break is soft as well which is awesome. Great pad all around for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rbk 18K Goal Pads I love these pads. They are light, fit perfectly and the rotation is phenomenal. My butterfly is not near as wide as it used to be but these pads cover the five hole regardless. I've had them for only two weeks and the improvement in my game (and my confidence) has been significant.

PRODUCT Q & A

18k intermediate vs x28

Can u tell me if there much difference in the two? Also my son is 12, 5ft 90lbs with a floor to knee of 17.5, size 5 skate. What size would u recommend? He used 14k juniors 28+1 last year and they look small.

The graphic will be the main difference between the 18k and the x28 leg pad. To get an accurate size please check out our fitting video. http://goalie.totalhockey.com/support/How_to_fit_goalie_leg_pads/pg_id/146

Solid Seal

Is there a difference between the P4's Solid Seal, CCM's binding-less flattened inner edge, and Vaughn's Inner edge balance stabilizer?
Asked by: Anonymous
The 18k has a rolled inside edge while the CCM 500 has a flat medial edge. Some goalies say that the P4 rolled inside edge allows them to slide better and other goalies say the CCM 500 flat inside gives them better balance and seal. The Vaughn balance stabalizer is similar to the CCM flat inside in that it aids in the balance of the goalie. The Vaughn has a mroe tapered thigh and doesn't seal as nicely to the ice as the CCM or Reebok but the taper allows you to be more agile.

When will the XLT line be released?

I need new pads. I was planning on getting the Reebok 18ks but realized that if I got those, that I would be in a 2012 model pad for the next couple years. When will the XLT line release?
Asked by: Anonymous
The XLT Pro pads can be custom ordered starting 3/11/2014. The X28 and X24 models will not be in stores until May. An exact date has not been released yet.

Is a no-break pad better for a hybrid goalie

will having a no break pad be much of a difference then having a double break?
Asked by: Heipfam
This pad has a double internal break, visually you don't get the breaks in the outside roll. Because of the internal breaks the pad will flex similar to that of a double break outer roll pad.

As a hybrid goalie, would I still be able to make quick movements like I do in my H series pads?

I like these pads. Have tried them on before but I am wondering if I will still have the same quickness to my game even though these are ideal for a butterfly goalie.
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes - you'll still be able to move very well in these pads. You'll find that the boot is more square than in your H Series pads so it may take a short time to get used to that, but it won't be a huge issue. Boot flex is much better in the 18K which will make movements easy as well.

I have the pro P3's, how similar are these to my P3's? Big differences?

Asked by: Anonymous
The 18K's will be fairly different, with the main difference being that it's not a pro level pad. It was not designed for someone at an advanced level playing over 5x per week, unfortunately. Other than that, the knee stack is softer, the inside calf wrap has been modified to be slightly shorter at the skate area, and the boot has more flex in it as well.

will u guys ship across the border to the good old north?

I live in Manitoba and I really want those 32+2 int 18k pads. But the question is will u guys cross the border? I read that apparently you guys wont ship Bauer but I assume Reebok is ok.
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, we cannot ship Reebok products to a Canadian address. We could ship it to an address close to the border, but you would have to find a way to get it from there. Sorry.
