PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Bauer PERFORMANCE Chest Protector has been re-engineered for 2012. Though this new model shares some of the same features as the 2011 model, new innovations and enhancements make it a fantastic pad for the beginner or intermediate goaltender.

Starting at the shoulders, the floaters have been widened to provide more coverage. Also, because these floaters sit closer to the neck for added protection, soft foam "bumpers" have been placed on the inside edge near the neck for comfort. The secondary shoulder protection that sits underneath the main floaters are made of plastic and HD foam, and their profile has been widened and squared off to cover more of the shoulder joint.

On the chest, the sternum padding is made of medium density foam and runs from the base of the neck down to the belly. HD foam blocks provide significant coverage over the belly, and softer, LD foam pads extend around the side of the body for additional side impact protection. Like the 2011 pad, the belly protection features Bauer's Adjustable Belly System (ABS) which allows the pad to be raised or lowered by using velcro tabs on the back (at the neck area), or by attaching or removing the belly flap extensions at the bottom of the pad.  Velcro belly straps run around the lower back to the front of the chest padding to customize the fit of the unit around the stomach area.

New for 2012, the sewn-in arms feature an innovative, durable velcro "Arm Adjust" system which can raise or lower the length of the arm padding by up to 2 inches. Plastic caps sit comfortably over the elbows, and elongated, free floating arm floaters provide substantial bicep and forearm protection.

PRODUCT Q & A

What size should I get?

Hey I was wondering which protector I should get, I am 6' but I'm borderline 6'1" so I'm probably gunna grow a bit more so I don't know if I would need a lg or xl, I've been told lg but the xl seems like it'd have more growing room but I dunno if it would be really large on me, I don't know if it matters but I'm a really lean kid as well, like I'm only about 150-160lbs, so which size should I look into?
Asked by: Liam
If you're really lean then I'd try a size L first. The XL may fit you better length wise down the road, but currently it might be too wide in some areas (like the shoulders) and may not cover adequately. You can also adjust the arm and belly lengths with this unit, so you should be able to lengthen each as your body grows. Also, make sure that you look into our Breakaway Memberships as well, as you get free return shipping on all items that you order. That way, just in case the Large doesn't fit, you can return it for free and exchange it for an XL. http://goalie.totalhockey.com/support/Breakaway_Rewards/pg_id/5?cp=free_returns&source=us&ad=holidayguide13&pg_id=44446

What level of protection?

I play in a rec women's league intermediate level, and sometimes a co-ed league with many different levels. Beginner A level up to D advanced. (I know backwards) I have gotten stingers on my arms and "chest" area from my Vaughn V-light pro. (old) I am on the small side. I wonder if this would be a step up.

Sounds like this would be a good upgrade from your old Vaughn. This should have enough protection while giving you great mobility.
