New for 2012, the 7800 Velocity 5 Blocker is incredibly light and responsive, with enhanced protective padding that make it the complete blocker.
The blocking board is large with more square corners and no binding to maximize the blocking surface. The side gussets of the blocker have been straightened to give added stability to the board structure and added beef to the side profile. The board is tapered at the front for great paddle down play.
The solid side shield adds protection and rigidity, and a smaller slotted shaped opening for the stick (much like the 9500 Blocker side hand protection) protects the fingers from pucks that may ride up the paddle. Pro finger protection with HD foam and plastic inserts, along with a floating side layer of index finger and new side encapsulated index finger guard, offer superior hand protection.
The cuff opening is wide, and backhand padding sits inside the palm for increased comfort and protection. New this year, the wrist strap has been modified to go all the way around the wrist (instead of just sitting on the top of the wrist) for increased control and feel to the glove.
Measure your hand from the heel of the palm to the tip of the middle finger, then consult the chart below to find the size that will work for you.
Key to a Proper Fit:
The blocker should be fitted based on hand size. The goalie's fingers should be no more than 1/4" from the end of the fingers in the palm. If the fingers are too long, chances are the hand tabs that tie down the palm to the blocker are too large. This will cause the blocker to wobble, tilt or rotate on the goaltender's hand, seriously affecting control while limiting coverage (blocking surface).
