The Reebok Premier line has become a staple for goaltenders across the globe including a large percentage of professional and college goalies. Those of you who have loved the past iterations of the Premier line are going to love the new features in the 2014 Premier XLT line.
The new Premier XLT pads feature a new crosslink technology internal foam that will give goalies a bigger rebound which allows for a longer recovery time. The inside calf and knee landing pads on the XLT now have a bindless perimeter. This not only aids in the goalies ability to slide laterally but also prevents snow build up in the binding crevases and creates a true seal to the ice. In addition, the lower portion of the inside calf wrap has been covered in jenpro to prevent wear.
The XLT features a new thigh guard that is less bulky than the previous guard found on the Premier 4. You will find the strapping on the XLT is the same as found on previous models; 1 leather boot, 2 leather calf, and two leather adjustable top straps (loose fit 2 strap). The shallow open leg channel and open knee craddle gives the pad a quick rotation. The open knee craddle also allows the goalie to wear bigger knee guards without restriction.
Although the pad shows no breaks in the outer roll, the internal foam does have a single break below the knee. This gives the pad a softer flex below the knee while keeping the top thigh portion of the pad rigid.
Whether you are a goalie in the NHL or a teenager living out your hockey dreams, the Reebok XLT is the premier choice!
