PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Bauer PRO Goal Skates is new for 2012 and the boot is based off of the popular Vapor player skate design to help give the goalie the best in performance.   This year's design is both lighter and more responsive than the previous One100 model - a skate that set a new standard for weight and performance.

For starters, goalies will notice the curved, ribbed boot design that has become a staple in the Vapor player skate line.  The curve material and the ribs on the boot - part of Bauer's Alive Composite construction -help the skate maintain it's stiffness, structure and integrity over a longer period of time.  The change in boot structure has created a stiffer skate than the older One100 model, and it has also given the boot better forward flex as well.  Additionally, the tendon guard of the boot has been made more stiff to keep it in the original position over time and make it more supportive.

The interior of the boot features a hydrophobic liner to keep moisture out of the boot.  In addition to the liner material, extra padding has been added around the heel area and under the footbed for added comfort.  The skate tongue has a thick, pro felt base with extra padding down the middle to protect against lace bite.

The cowling features a 3mm Tuuk Super Stainless Steel runner as well as the popular VERTEXX cutout. Because of the VERTEXX cutout and the taller support position, goalies can realize a 28% increased attack angle when compared to a standard goal cowling. This means that goalies can take a deeper stance, and keep the blade on the ice longer when pushing laterally, before the cowling "bottoms out" on the ice.  The runner on the Vertexx cowling can be easily replaced by simply loosening the screw at the toe of the blade.

RATINGS & REVIEWS

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable I've worn the Bauer One95s for quite a while. It was time for a change in skates very badly as the One95s were seriously outdated. I decided to bite the bullet and buy these skates. Man was this a fantastic decision I ever made. The difference in quality between the two models are obviously very drastic. I've never felt so comfortable inside a goalie skate. The weight of the skates are also really light, which is good for a goalie because we got all that other heavy equipment on. I definitely noticed a change in my game for the better. My stance has gotten deeper, my slides have been a lot easier, push offs are more smooth, and the protection is incredible. Got hit on the side of my foot once. No white cowling in that area either. No problem, no sting at all. If you're thinking of getting these, be prepared to seriously save your money. Yes, the price of these skates are very expensive, but it's a great investment for many years until these begin to wear down, which shouldn't be for a long time because these are very durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bauer Pro lives up it the hype These are the most comfortable goalie skates I have ever wore. The movement capabilities are unbelievable. I have to say I was a little bit skeptical but these skates made a believer out of me. I would recomend waxed laces as the skates are stiff and as they loosen up you don't want them loose on your foot.

PRODUCT Q & A

If I bought 4 mm blades to put in them would they fit or would I have to buy a new cowling too so they would fit.

Asked by: Parker
The Bauer Pro uses the 3mm cowlings, so a 4mm replacement won't fit. If you wanted to use a 4mm blade then you would also have to purchase a new 4mm cowling as well.

I wear a 8.5 in a bauer performance skate and I was looking to upgrade, would the sizing be the same if I were to order them online?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, the sizing will be the same. You typically are a size and a half smaller than your shoe size.

Width?

i currently have Reebok 16k 8 EE (wide) skates and was wondering if i ordered these in a wide if they would fit the same. Or do any other bauers fit like a wide reebok
Asked by: thfh99
Traditionally Bauer will be more narrow than a Reebok skate. That being said, you will probably still be in a EE width in either skate.

Reactor vs Pro

I am currently wearing a one 100 and I'm in need of an upgrade which skate do you think I should choose between this one and the Reactor?
Asked by: Anonymous
I can't tell you which one you should choose, but perhaps this info would help: - Reactor 6000: this skate is essentially the One100 with some new colors and a few new features. - Pro: Much stiffer skate than Reactor, but the fit will be similar. If you don't want a skate this stiff then go with the Elite model. Cowlings on both are the same, though the Reactor has a 4mm runner and the Pro has a 3mm runner. Hope that helps. Give our customer service line a call if you want to talk more about the skates.

Fitting

Do this skates fit like the Bauer one100's
Asked by: Anonymous
The Bauer Pro goal skate will fit identically to the Bauer one100 of previous years. The only difference will be some of the lining, foams, and leathers, but the fit will be the same.
