The 2012 Ritual Pro leg pad is a pad built to suit any style. Blocking style goalies will enjoy the flat face, the HD foam construction that help shoot rebounds away from the net, a squared off design for full coverage, and a wider leg channel and knee lock that allow the pad to rotate with ease. Hybrid style goalies will enjoy the softer feeling leg channel, the table top boot and thin thigh rise that allow for easy movements around the net, and customizable knee lock and leg channel that will allow the pad to fit as tight or as loose as you would like. And EVERYONE will enjoy the light weight, the bindingless design, the innovative post wedge, and the natural way that the pads transition to the butterfly.

The Ritual Pro leg pads are quite simply one of the most innovative and functional leg pads to come to market in a long time. This should come as no suprise, as new pad designer for Warrior - Pete Smith - is the brainchild behind numerous pad innovations over the last 26 years, including the foam core box pad, closed toe, knee lifts, the hinged knee, angled top straps, inner panels that allow butterfly slides, and much more. By hiring Smith, Warrior has gained instant credibility in the goalie category.

Though the Ritual Pro's are made overseas, they have little in common with other offshore pads.  Nearly all of the materials used to make the pads are produced domestically, with the cost savings coming from labor and not cheaper materials.  In the Pro, Warrior has created an entirely new price category - now goalies can get pro level pads at an offshore pad price.  There are very few differences between this pad and the Ritual Custom Pro pad.

  • Pro level sizing and construction in a lightweight package
  • Exclusive bindingless construction allows for a lightweight pad while increasing durability by taking away the typical wear points on the pads
  • Rounded boot eliminates friction with the ice
  • New "Knee Leveler" stabilizes the knee landing area providing a continuous landing surface
  • Adjustable strap position offers a greater degree of strap placement customization
  • Internal hinge design allows for flexibility through the knee and ankle while providing a sturdy structure to prevent pad shrinkage and settling
  • Exclusive post wedge panel provides increased protection to the outer calf while helping to seal the pad to the post when standing up with knees bent
  • Exclusive hinged knee design allows the outer portion of the knee cradle to twist when going into a butterfly, allowing for a smooth rotation with minimal stress on your straps
  • Sliding toe bridge allows the pad to be worn snug at the toe, creating a more responsive feel while allowing the full range of movement for the skate to drop to the ice during a butterfly, thus reducing stress on the goalie's ankle, knee and hip
  • Squared up design creates a complete seal across the ice when in the butterfly
  • Thin thigh profile allows the tops of the pads to overlap each other when in your stance and moving on your feet, thus increasing mobility
  • Exclusive "tabletop boot construction" allows the boot to sit and move on top of your skate, increasing mobility and coverage
  • Available in sizes 32+1.5", 34+1.5", 36+1.5"

Warrior utilizes a "Floor to Knee" fit guide to determine the proper leg pad size to meet your needs.  To determine your "Floor to Knee" measurement, measure the distance from the floor (in bare feet) to the middle of the knee cap, straight up, knees slightly bent.  Find this measurement in the chart below, then look at the number above it to find your pad size.  NOTE:  The "height" measurements included below serve as a guide only.

If fitted properly, the goalie's knee should rest in the center of the knee cradle with the pad securely attached to the goal skate and properly strapped on the goaltender's leg. Generally, this will ensure that the pad breaks (bends) at the knee/shin and ankle as designed for optimal performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Job Just bough these from Total Hockey in Downers Grove IL. I was always intrigued by Pete Smith designed pads. I looked at the Senior pad, also the custom. I felt for the money I would go with the pro pad made overseas. I have only used them once so far, this is what I can say: Coverage is good, solid ice seal, butterfly closure better than I expected. I am coming from Reebok Premier 2 very open leg channel. The Ritual was a little snug, but after a few adjustments on the calf wrap and knee channel I was OK. First shot when hugging post hit the calf wedge, it actually worked. The sliding is unbelievable. It took a little getting used to, not much resistance. The knee Chanel is nice, just fits over knee pads, not very roomy but adequate. The thigh protection with the pads is pretty thin, i used my Revoke Knee pads and removed what came with the Rituals. I would say if you are a butterfly of hybrid do not hesitate to get this pad,

I know this is an American site/store and I was wondering what the extra cost to have it shipped to Canada or more specifically my house would be.

The size chart recommends 32+2, currently wear warrior swagger 33+1. My knee lands perfectly. Do you recommend 32+2 or 34+2?

Asked by: Heipfam
I would go with the 32+2. These pads have a flat boot channel which typically makes them sit about 1" on your knee.

Are these pads weave material and the red looks dark, is it my computer?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes - the Ritual Pro pads are made of all weave material, and the red is more of a dark red than a brighter red.

I have 34 +1 bauer one100's, my floor to knee height is 19.5 - 20". would 32 +1.5" warriors be the same size or taller, worried about shrinking

Asked by: rich1982
32+1.5" Rituals should fit you fine given your ATK, and as far as fit goes when in your skates, the Rituals should sit just slightly shorter of your Bauer 34+1's (maybe 0.5" shorter). The foams in the ritual are designed in such a way that they won't compress or break down over time, so you can expect them to maintain their original shape for quite a while.

Warrior Sizing

Right now I have Bauers 35+1 but feel that they don't fit correctly. too small. Knee is high in the cradle. I have been looking at 36+1 and +1.5. I am 6 feet tall but have long legs.
Asked by: Anonymous
Also, to build on what JCrenshaw said, the Rituals typically sit about 1" higher than just about any other pad. My guess is that a 36+1 Ritual should put your knee in the middle of the stack. I'd hesitate about going 1.5" though - the Rituals are pretty tall as is.

how durable are these pads?

wich pad would give the best durability? Vaughn 7490 or these?
Asked by: Anonymous
Of the choices that you listed, the Ritual Pro's would be more durable than the 7490s.
