RATINGS & REVIEWS

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but pricey Picked it up at the local store with cash to throw around. Put it on and loved the initial comfort it offered. Goes on very easy and feels great initially. The large shoulders make you feel like a tank but is still relatively light. Once I started playing with it I noticed some cons immediately. You don't get great cross body movement, even when broken in. The large shoulders sometimes get in the way when you have a scrum and need to cover quickly. Have yet to get a bad stinger or bruise with it on, so it's durable enough for intermediate hockey. Also takes a while to break in. I spoke with a Brians rep who mentioned it's designed for larger goalies and they've had some issues with smaller goalies complaining it's "too bulky." Which really just echoed my issues with it. It also takes up massive bag space. Last issue is the price. It's more expensive than its competitors for the most part. I've trialed some of its competitors and I decided it's not quite worth the price, but is still a great chesty. Overall, it's comfortable in game (other than the bulk issues), provides good protection, is lightweight and is easy to use/customize. I recommend for any bigger goalie but a smaller goalie like me (5'6), I'd go with something a bit more little guy friendly.

Could a large fit me?

I'm 69.5 inches tall with a a 55" ish wrist to wrist measurement, 42" chest, Could a Large size be adjusted to be just a larger medium and fit me?
Asked by: Heipfam
I believe the medium would serve you well. The Large would probably be too big. It is best to try an item on before purchasing if possible.

Is this c/a more for mobility or blocking style?

Asked by: Anonymous
It is a combination of the two, which makes this unit great. You get the large tall wide shoulder floaters and elbow caps, but you get great mobility throughout.

Colors?

Does the subzero come in white/blue?
Asked by: Anonymous
We chose to have our Brian's Subzero chest guards done in custom black/silver/red coloring. (The white gets really discolored over time). We can custom order this chest guard in your own custom colors.

Is this C/A better for mobility or the warrior ritual C/A

Asked by: Anonymous
Both the SZ Pro and the Ritual Pro are pretty comparable in terms of mobility, though the Ritual probably has a very slight edge in terms of arm and cross body flex.
