The Bauer Supreme One70 Leg Pad is the updated version of the popular Supreme One60 leg pad, with the new Supreme graphics package.  The One70's are optimal for butterfly style goalies looking for a thinner, light weight pad, and it is a great pad for Beginner to Intermediate level goaltenders who play 1-2 times per week.

The One70 has a flat faced design with a triangular outer roll that aids in the overall weight savings of the pad, as well as directional rebound control.  The pad is sqaured up at both the thigh rise and the boot to create the maximum amount of closure and blocking surface.  The boot break is flexible and the internal foam breaks both above and below the knee give the pad a good amount of overall flex.  The One70 is pre curved, so goalies with both narrow and wide butterflies will get a perfect seal at the five hole.

At the knee, the One70 includes Bauer's Adjustable Knee Lock (AKL) which allows the knee cradle to move up to 1 inch in any direction.  The feature is ideal for younger, growing goalies who are looking for a pad to keep up with them as they grow, or for any goalie looking to customize the fit on the knee in the pad.  Though the pad plays "hard", the leg and boot channel has a softer, comfortable feel to it.  An integrated under the pant thigh protector comes standard with the pad.

  • Lightweight butterfly style and construction
  • Triangular outer roll
  • AKL:  Adjustable Knee Lock
  • Integrated under-pant thigh protector

The Key factor is the overall length. The length can be divided into three sections:

A.The boot

B.Instep to knee

C.Knee to top or thigh rise

The proper length of the goal pad boot is determined by the goalie's skate size. The next key area is the instep to knee that determines the shin length. Finally, the knee to top or thigh rise is a personal measurement depending on how much pant and pad overlap the goaltender prefers. A general rule is 7" to 8".

A.Skates size: provide the skate size for proper boot fit.

B.Instep to knee: measure from instep to the front center of kneecap while leg is in slightly bent position.

C. Thigh rise: measure from front center of kneecap up the thigh to desire height.

A + B + C = Estimated size of pad

If fitted properly, the goalie's knee should rest directly behind the center knee roll with the pad securely attached to the goal skate and properly strapped on the goaltender's leg. Generally, this will ensure that the pad breaks (bends) at the knee/shin and ankle as designed for optimal performance.
