Built from the Torspo tradition of professional-quality craftsmanship and maximum blocking potential, the Surge 121 Goalie Leg Pads is geared toward the serious netminder.  The Surge 121 takes old-school principals and adds cutting edge technology for the next generation goalie.

Featuring pro-spec construction, the Surge 121 has a full 11" width for maximum blocking area and a taller thigh rise with side roll break for added pad flex.  Full wrap knee and calf guards with calf wedge create added pad stability and the large pro style square side rolls prevent puck skip-over.  The Surge 121 has adjustable leg and knee cradles with elastic strap and velcro closure for a secure and comfortable fit.

Meeting all IIHF/NHL sizing regulations, the Surge 121 has internal flex points at the boot, knee and thigh and it has hidden leather lower leg straps straps with adjustable position nylon straps.  The reversible toe bridge allows for center or off-set toe position and the skate lock lock bottom leg strap allows for better post hugging.  Finally, the Surge 121 has hand trimmed top wear edging and reinforced bottom wear edging.

The Key factor is the overall length. The length can be divided into three sections:

A.The boot

B.Instep to knee

C.Knee to top or thigh rise

The proper length of the goal pad boot is determined by the goalie's skate size. The next key area is the instep to knee that determines the shin length. Finally, the knee to top or thigh rise is a personal measurement depending on how much pant and pad overlap the goaltender prefers. A general rule is 7" to 8".

A.Skates size: provide the skate size for proper boot fit.

B.Instep to knee: measure from instep to the front center of kneecap while leg is in slightly bent position.

C. Thigh rise: measure from front center of kneecap up the thigh to desire height.

A + B + C = Estimated size of pad

If fitted properly, the goalie's knee should rest directly behind the center knee roll with the pad securely attached to the goal skate and properly strapped on the goaltender's leg. Generally, this will ensure that the pad breaks (bends) at the knee/shin and ankle as designed for optimal performance.
