PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
New for 2013, Vaughn has introduced the 7490 CUSTOM Pro Series 7 line. This custom line is unique in that it offers a limited number of Vaughn's most popular custom colors and modifications to the 7490 line of gear at a significantly reduced price. Though this line is made overseas, it uses high quality, domestically made materials - most of which are found in Vaughn's pro level, domestically constructed products. Finally, customers can now get a custom-made, high quality pad at an overseas pad price!
The Vaughn 7490 Goalie Leg Pads are styled directly from the 7990 series leg pads and they are an extremely high quality imported pad. The materials and construction processes used to create the 7490 series are nearly identical to those used in the 7990 pad, making them true Vaughn "Custom Spec" pads. These leg pads are designed the Hybrid goal tender who like the feel of a softer, "Velocity-like" boot and shin, but also prefer a thinner, more rigid thigh rise.
The 7490 leg pads also feature many of the upgrades found in the 7800 leg pads, including the new internal foam components that eliminate gaps to get more foam into the corners of the pad. By pushing more foam into the corners, Vaughn has created a more solid pad with a firmer shape without making the pad play "stiff". Addtionally, the outside calf protection has been widened to more fully cover the back leg area.
The 7490 keeps the popular adjustable knee lock from the previous model, as well as the angled strapping that runs underneath the knee bend on the leg.

SIZE CHART
The Key factor is the overall length. The length can be divided into three sections:
A.The boot
B.Instep to knee
C.Knee to top or thigh rise
The proper length of the goal pad boot is determined by the goalie's skate size. The next key area is the instep to knee that determines the shin length. Finally, the knee to top or thigh rise is a personal measurement depending on how much pant and pad overlap the goaltender prefers. A general rule is 7" to 8".
A.Skates size: provide the skate size for proper boot fit.
B.Instep to knee: measure from instep to the front center of kneecap while leg is in slightly bent position.
C. Thigh rise: measure from front center of kneecap up the thigh to desire height.
A + B + C = Estimated size of pad
If fitted properly, the goalie's knee should rest directly behind the center knee roll with the pad securely attached to the goal skate and properly strapped on the goaltender's leg. Generally, this will ensure that the pad breaks (bends) at the knee/shin and ankle as designed for optimal performance.
